Wear Sunscreen
If you read one thing today, make it this advice column. Written by M. Schmich in 1998, it remains just as powerful today.
I have been imagining worlds, characters and stories since I was a child. Now I am bringing them to life on the page, writing and illustrating short stories while working on a longer one.
I love the creative and technical aspects of storytelling. How to structure a story using language, pace and information reveal to keep the reader engaged. How to create characters that stay with you after you close the book. How to make a reader look forward to the ritual of another few pages before going to bed. I spend a lot of time thinking about all of these!
As any writer knows, it is a long process of hard work and self-doubt, but I am confident it will lead somewhere great.
